The vision of the municipality of Boxtel recorded in an online platform

The municipality of Boxtel wanted to bring together its vision in a clear - online - platform. Together with Inergy, they succeeded: in a core task discussion all the important spearheads for the coming years have been defined. Klaartje Vingerhoets from the municipality of Boxtel and Rainer Bouts, LIAS Consultant at Inergy, talk about the course of this intensive project.

"During a budget meeting in October 2019, the City Council decided that there should be a core task discussion," Klaartje begins. She was Team Manager for Finance and Administration and switched to the role of Project Leader. "Boxtel was in a bad financial position at the time. We wanted to get back to the core. What do we really stand for as a municipality?" Klaartje wanted to tackle this project with both hands and traded her management position for the role of Project Leader.

"The collaboration was great. We really had to figure it out with each other and all the contact was digital. That went great."

Building Blocks

"Municipality Almelo already made a beautiful design in 2013 and our plan was to copy it, but of course by adding our own twist to it," Klaartje explains. "Of course not without the help of Inergy, because our LIAS modules contain all the figures. We have completely visualized our demand with LIAS Performance Management.

"For both the municipality of Boxtel and for us, it was a different project than we were used to so far," Rainer explains. "That required a lot of flexibility on both sides. You start with nothing and work together towards something big. We developed a website highlighting the core task discussion in the form of building blocks. Creating those building blocks and filling them with the right information from LIAS was our task."

In addition to the website, a PDF has been created of the core task discussion. "For the council, a PDF is easier to read," Klaartje explains. "You don't read a website from front to back; you use it mainly when you want to look up specific information." "The PDF was formatted by Studio Campo, a design agency in Woerden," adds Rainer.

Open to all

The core tasks discussion is primarily intended for the city council. "The information contained in the building blocks are the discussion points for the city council," says Klaartje. "The website is also available to residents. But although we tried to keep it as simple as possible, it often turns out to be complex."

In January 2021, the project was completed and the website went live. Both are convinced that the fine cooperation has ensured a good conclusion of the project. Klaartje: "The cooperation was great. We really had to figure it out together and all contact was digital. That went great."
