Before joining Inergy, I completed a degree in Innovation Sciences at Utrecht University. A course that officially falls within social science. For some courses, I was taught quantitative analysis using R and I quickly noticed that I enjoyed it.
During my studies, I taught statistics courses as a student assistant and did an internship at a consulting firm where I was exposed to data analysis, SQL and databases.
When I came across the call for Inergy's Young Professional program, I applied immediately. I have now been employed for over two years and work on all kinds of cool customer projects with the latest technology where I am intellectually challenged, without spending all day writing code.

Na het afronden van Bedrijfskundige Informatica, zocht ik een relevante eerste baan. In wist niet welke richting ik op wilde, omdat IT een breed vakgebied is. Ik wilde mijn loopbaan beginnen bij een bedrijf waar ik de ruimte kreeg om mijn ambities en competenties te ontdekken met de juiste begeleiding.
De eerste drie maanden ben ik klaargestoomd om mee te kunnen draaien bij klantteams. Inmiddels ben ik onderdeel van het Scrum Team bij onze klant DetailResult. Samen met het Scrum-team werk ik aan de back-end, waar ik zowel mijn hard- als softskills kan inzetten. Tijdens het traineeship heb ik ontdekt dat ik de scrum-methodiek mijn interesse heeft en daarom richt ik me nu op Scrum-gerelateerde taken, zoals het documenteren van de retrospectives en het bijwerken van het scrum-board. Ik kijk ernaar uit om certificaten voor Scrum te halen en deze skills toe te passen bij projecten! Inergy is een veilige omgeving waar ik mijzelf ontwikkel en waar ik veel leer. Het Young Professional Programma is voor mij de perfecte start.

At the end of my undergraduate Biology degree, I found out that a job as a lab researcher was not for me. This was a difficult realization, since most of my studies were focused on this. I really liked analyzing data, though. So this is what I focused on during my Master's in Biology/Chemistry.
Ik stond zelf nooit op het lab maar analyseerde de data van andere onderzoekers in Python of R. Toen ik mijn master had afgerond ging ik op zoek naar een baan. Ik wist echter totaal niet waar ik wilde gaan werken.
Until I learned about Inergy. At Inergy, the emphasis was not on my experience with SQL or databases. Inergy was looking for someone with an affinity for programming and enthusiasm for the profession. And enthusiasm I certainly was. A few months later I started as a Young Professional where I learned a lot about the Data Engineer profession in a very short time. Within just a few months I was given the opportunity to work for major clients such as Rituals.

Na het behalen van mijn diploma Commerciële Economie wist ik meteen dat ik verder wilde studeren en iets met data wilde gaan doen.
Na het behalen van mijn master Digital Driven Business werd de interesse in het werken met data nog meer en besloot ik daarin werk te gaan zoeken. Ik was op zoek naar iets waarin ik nog verder kon leren en de vacature van Inergy sloot daar goed op aan.
Tijdens het Young Professional Programma van Inergy heb ik onder leiding van data specialisten de juiste kennis opgedaan voordat ik ging meedraaien met klantteams. Ook nu ik voor klanten werk kijken er ervaren specialisten mee en krijg ik ruimte om mezelf verder te ontwikkelen binnen onderdelen die ik leuk vind, zoals dashboarding.

The Young Professional program has been a wonderful kick-start for me to develop into the BI consultant I am today. As a business administrator, I don't have the technical background that some other colleagues do. The Young Professional program helped me build a good technical foundation. In practice, my non-technical background has therefore not been a problem; sometimes even an advantage.
By empathizing with the clients, I estimate how a topic can be explained in such a way that it can be understood by someone with a non-technical background.

In maart 2024 start ik voor de zevende keer met vijf slimme ambitieuze IT-ers aan een mooie reis. Ik vind het een genot om met jonge getalenteerde en ambitieuze mensen te werken. In iedere editie van ons programma heb ik bij de Young Professionals een mooie persoonlijke groei gezien. En het geeft enorm veel voldoening om deze groepen te coachen en begeleiden.
In the program we offer development of hard and soft skills (such as consulting skills). Fortunately, I don't have to provide all those trainings myself but do so together with Frans. He is the technical conscience of our program.

One of the most fun things I do is mentoring Young Professionals. Every year, Daphne and I make sure that five top young professionals get the right tools and learn a lot in order to be able to work successfully at the end of the program. I do that mainly for the 'hard skills', think of Microsoft Azure, SQL, data modeling and the Snowflake data platform, but also things like architecture and Docker. The field is very broad and can therefore be quite intimidating. That's why it's incredibly fun to see people grow enormously in it and gain confidence in their own skills by leaps and bounds.
