What is cloud migration?

In a cloud migration, you move your entire data platform from an on-premises environment to the cloud (such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform). Think about different IT resources, such as databases, ETL software,reports and dashboards. A good approach is important here. We can help you with that.

Why a cloud migration?

You hear a lot around you about migrating to the cloud, but maybe you're not convinced yet. In the cloud, many more features are available and the cost of maintenance is a lot lower. Great, since a key driver for cloud migration is the fact that the current solution is functionally obsolete ("end-of-life"). In addition, you only pay for the amount of space you consume. And you can quickly scale up or down, if you need a little more power.

What approach to cloud migration?

A cloud migration has different approaches. We have good experiences with refactoring, also calledlift-and-shift. We replace the old software and apply other cloud-native features. For us, a cloud migration consists of a number of standard components:

Infrastructure - Using templates and 'infrastructure as code', we roll out a new environment in the cloud with the push of a button.

Data and data model - Existing data is copied to the new environment and checked for completeness and correctness by means of macro validations.

ETL software ('business logic') - We are replacing the existing ETL software with better software, optimally suited for the cloud.

Reporting Environment - Reports and dashboards are transferred to the cloud.
